In a move that is rare for Pattaya but well proven in the United States, units in a new condominium project named the Park Jomtien Beach will be auctioned off on December 17, the auction taking place at the Royal Cliff Beach Resort.
The Park consists of seven buildings each of seven stories and is located on 25 rai of land at Jomtien Beach.
Owner and managing director of the project, Gordon Gillen, along with Jordi Quintana, Executive Vice President, Mel Giller, president of MGI Global Auctions and Ning Kamala Kamphoo na Ayutthaya, executive public relations manager of the Park, led the official opening ceremony on November 22.
Jordi Quintana said that the Park is being developed following the success of the company’s Jomtien Park Villas project. The budget for the Park is 750 million baht, and the construction period is three years.
The first auction on December 17 will be for 33 units in building A, which has 52 units in total. There are one-bedroom, two-bedroom and three-bedroom apartments, and a penthouse. The lowest price will depend on the customer’s satisfaction, and this will be a good opportunity to choose the best room before other buyers, said Jordi.
The facilities include a swimming pool, fitness center, and a fine dining restaurant located in a teak house. The land is just 800 meters from the sea at Jomtien.
Mel Giller is a professional auctioneer who has conducted over 400 auctions, and he will be the auctioneer for the proceedings. He said that although the concept is not a familiar one in Thailand, it should prove popular because the condominium auction prices would not be high. After the project is completed, the price of the unsold units would probably be 50 to 60 percent higher than the auction prices.
He said the auction method is the quickest way to sell, and anyone can attend without booking in advance.
The press and guests at the opening were treated to a demonstration of Mel Giller’s auction style, which is fast and fun, and prizes were handed out. Pattaya Mail’s own executive director for sales and marketing Suwanthep Malhotra became the proud owner of a new Nokia mobile phone.
The auction will be held at Siam Ballroom B at the Royal Cliff Beach Resort on December 17, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Attendees must present 250,000 baht in cash or check one hour before the auction starts. They will then immediately have the right to attend the auction.
For more information please call the Park project auction office on Thepprasit Road and Soi 17 at tel 03830 3871-4.
